Fine Art Practice

WHAT WE DID:
Over the past year, I’ve reconnected with my roots in fine art and graffiti, bringing that raw, expressive energy back into the studio. My dog Dash has become an unexpected muse—his presence is constant, but his look and attitude shift day to day. Some paintings capture him in clean, graphic forms, while others lean into rough textures and loose, intuitive marks. There’s this push and pull between being precise and just letting things happen—and that’s usually when the Aha moments come through.

Creating outside of my design practice isn’t just a creative outlet; I see it as training. Interacting with fine artists, exploring aesthetics, and pushing a subject’s direction all feed back into my commercial work. It’s similar to how running, cycling, and surfing aren’t just workouts—they’re training for life. Pushing myself physically sharpens me mentally, and the same goes for art. The more I experiment off-screen, the more I bring back to my design process. Painting is where I test ideas, challenge habits, and stay curious—and that energy finds its way into everything else I make.
